Much had been documented about the standard gauge steam locomotives that had still been at work in the coal mines in Serbia, and at one of these, in Resavica there is also a narrow gauge railway hauling the coal to the surface.

These first photos from Zoran Veresic were taken at some point before 1999.

There are both diesel and battery locos here. Romainan built Unio mines diesels and American Westinghouse locos.

One of the locos hauling a train of manriders for the mine workers train.

One of the Westinghouse Battery locos outside the loco/charging sheds.

A visit was made on 2001, and the mine and railway was still operational.

Another view of the loco sheds, with the shelves that allowed the batteries to be rolled on and off the locos clearly visible.

By this time all the Westinghouse locos appeared to have been converted to diesel power.

One of the double ended Unio locos emerges from the mine at the end of the shift with a miners train.

A closer view of the Unio loco.
