The depot and timber yard for the Covasna forestry line was at the back of the CFR mainline station. There was a rather ramshackle loco shed, with a dumped loco 764 215 rusting away outside.

THe weather was awful for photography, and everywhere in the timber yard was damp and muddy.

However, Reghin 001 was n steam early in the morning on the 25th May, carrying out some shunting prior to taking some empties to the incline plane at Siclau.

After waiting for what seemed like several hours on the outskirts of Covasna the loco finally came past. At that time we were not aware that there was an intermediate timber yard/sawmill that the loco must have stopped at because the wagons in the train had changed when it appeared.

Unlike many of the forestry railways, the liine at Covasna leading away from the town ran close to the road until reaching the inclined plane.

At Siclau, it was a surprise to find Krauss 4-6-0T No.247 at the bottom of the incline.

After, some discussion and gestures with the railway workers it appeared that the loco was due to go up the incline to Commandau.

The inclined plane, worked by a platfrom carrying the narrow gauge wagons on a balanced incline principle with full wagons coming down pulling up the empty wagons to the top of the incline.

There was a small shed beside the incliine and this contained the horse used for shunting the wagons off the incline platfrom to the sidings, for onward haulage by loco back to Covasna.

with dull and rainy conditions giving very poor photographs, No 001 uncouples from it's train of empties and moved into the storage sidings.

Coupling up to the Krauss loco it pulls the cold loco out of the siding.

No.001 then assembled a rake of timber bolsters and put these between the two locos. The Krauss was then pushed onto the incline platfrom, preventing the weight of both locos going over the small bridge in fromt of the incline at the same time.

Once on the platfrom it was shackled down ready for the journey to the top of the incline.

Very slowly the loco then started to travel up the incline. It then spent a period working at the Commandau end of the line before closure.
