Gowla Farm was not a peat works, but harvested grass for for making livestock feeds. The cage type bogie wagons were emptied by the use of a hydraulically operated platform situated at the works in the background.
Despite its appearance this was one of the operational locos. A Ruston, possibly a 13DL.
This dumped Ruston loco was numbered '4'.
The farm closed in 1978, when the surrounding lands were taken over by Bord na Mona for peat development on the Derryfadda system. By 1979 the 2ft gauge track had all been lifted, and the Hibberd and Ruston locos were put up for sale.
